Movin' On

Well, the balloon fiesta is over and the crowds are beginning to disipate, our normal traffic patterns have returned, and people have started staring at the roads instead of the sky while driving. I am hoping to be able to post about one or two fun activities a week as we do them. This way you can see everything that Albuquerque and the surrounding areas have to offer.

More Balloons

I know that you are probably wondering if there is anything to do in Albuquerque besides balloons and I will assure you that there is lots and lots of stuff to do but for the first full week in October it is ALL about the balloons. You see them on your way to work, school, etc. They are everywhere. I spotted this yellow one just above our house this morning.
Eight years ago today my husband and I were married at the balloon fiesta so this is a fun time of year for us. A balloon fiesta wedding romantic, fun, and easy. Wish I had pics to post but we weren't digital eight years ago.:)

Balloon Fiesta 2009

Today we woke up bright and early (5 a.m.) to get out of the house in time to see the mass assention at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The crowds were pretty manageable and we arrived right at 7 a.m. when the first wave of balloons was taking off. We were unable to attend the fiesta last year so the kids were very excited. We walked around a variety of balloons although I think that the bumble bees and "Nemo" were my kids favorites.
If you have never been to the balloon fiesta make sure that you dress in layers and have a hat and gloves as it can get really cold. Also there is a lot of walking and the little ones get pretty tired by 8 or so since they have been up so long so bringing a stroller is a must. You can bring one of your own or rent one from Travelin' Tots Rentals (http://www.travelintotsrentals.com/).

Welcome to wonderful Albuquerque

I decided to start a blog so that I can share all of the wonderful events, activities, etc. that Albuquerque and the surrounding area have to offer.

What better time to start than at the beginning of TheAlbuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. For those of you that don't know, this is the largest balloon festival in the world with hundreds of balloons taking off during the mass ascentions. You are allowed to walk around the balloons as they are blowing up with air. It is a truely memorable experience. Make sure to dress warm and plan a nap for later in the day and you will have a great time.

Check out this site for more http://www.balloonfiesta.com/ info.

Above are a few pics from previous years.
